Over 4000 displaced families in Trincomalee

The total number of displaced families living in the Trincomalee district now stands at 4068, said a report prepared by the District Consortium of the non-governmental organisations.
One thousand three hundred and fifty three families are living in welfare camps while 2715 families are living with friends and relatives. Of the displaced families 2038 are Tamils, 1492 Muslims and 538 Sinhalese. In Trincomalee Town and Gravets division, 988 displaced families are living in welfare centres and camps and 1531 with relations and friends. In the Kuchchaveli division, 92 families live in welfare centres and 228 with relations and friends. In the Kinniya division, 144 families live in welfare centres and 921 live with relations. In the Morawewa division 129 families in welfare centres and 35 families with their relations, the report said.
