Additional Magistrate for Jaffna and Kayts issued an arrest warrant in connection with a killing of a youth by EPDP on Saturday, Students boycott classes.
Arrest warrant issuedThe Additional Magistrate for Jaffna and Kayts, Mr. S.A.E Ekanathan, issued an arrest warrant for two suspects wanted in connection with the killing of a youth on Saturday. An arrest warrant was also issued on R. Sree of the EPDP who assured the magistrate yesterday that he would produce the suspects Vettivelu Selavarajah and Karalasigham Patsha, both cadres of the EPDP. Two civilians from Karampon, Veluppillai Aarumugam and Shanmugam Thilagarajah gave evidence. They told the court that a 16 year old was shot dead by the EPDP on Saturday. The judge instructed the courts that Muarali and David, cadres at the Kayts EPDP camp should appear in courts tomorrow morning around 9 a.m.
Students boycott classesThe students of Kanakaratnam Mahaviththiyalayam (Stanley College) in Jaffna town continued their boycott of classes today over the arrest of one of their fellow students, Sivarooban. The Jaffna Hindu College students also boycotted their classes in protest this afternoon. Department of Education sources in Jaffna said other leading schools in the town are expected to join the protest tomorrow.
