Red Cross Official questioned in courts

Sivanathan Kishore the Sri Lankan Red Cross official who was detained by the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) of the Sri Lanka Police was produced before the Aluthkadai Magistrate, courts sources said.
When Magistrate G.H.Kulatileka questioned him, Sivanathan Kishore told the courts that he is serving as the city Coroner in Vavuniya and is also a strong volunteer worker in the National Volunteer Organisation Sri Lanka Red Cross and the Police has not told him the reason for the arrest and detention. Police Sergeant Wijeratne produced him before the courts. Kishore was arrested by the SLA in Vavuniya and handed over to the Counter Subversive Unit of the Police there. He was immediately taken into custody by the TID. Now he is detained in Colombo. Sources said that he may be produced in the courts on Monday. Meanwhile, informed sources said this evening that the TID has asked Chelliah Marcandeyar the Chairman of the SLRC Vavuniya Branch to come to Colombo for an inquiry tomorrow May 11 Tuesday. Sivanathan Kishore is the north east Co-ordinator of the SLRC and the branch secretary of the SLRC Vavuniya.
