2 fishermen arrested in Jaffna

Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) occupying the islets of Jaffna arrested two fishermen on the seas of Ma’ndaitheevu in the islets of Jaffna Saturday for possessing an explosive device, sources in Jaffna said. The device is said to be a part of one of the unexploded shells found during war. The fishermen intended to use it in catching fish. SLN handed the fishermen to Jaffna police station where they are detained.

Fishermen in Mannaar and Ma’ndaitheevu using dynamite sticks in fishing is a common practice and some of them have been arrested in Mannaar earlier the sources said.
