Youth commits suicide

The Sri Lankan Police said that a suspected member of the Liberation Tigers committed suicide by swallowing cyanide at Brown's Building check point on the Vavuniya-Jaffna Road at around noon today.

They said that the youth committed suicide while the police were trying to escort him away for further interrogation.

He died on admission to the Vavuniya hospital, said the Police.

Two further cyanide capsules were recovered from the body, said the police.

Hospital sources said that the body is lying at the mortuary.
