Complaints follow aerial banners

The Civil Aviation Authority in UK received a number of complaints yesterday when a light aircraft buzzed over the Wantage Road ground which staged the game between South Africa and Sri Lanka, said press reports in London today.
In the morning [Wednesday] an aircraft flew over the ground for an hour trailing the banner: "Killing Tamils is just not cricket" reported the Independent. The paper said that in the middle of the afternoon a red and white single- engined aircraft made half a dozen circuits of the ground, this time towing a banner which read: "South Africa, we Tamils support you". It was clearly a political statement by supporters of the Liberation Tigers, said the Independent. If the CAA decide that the pilot was causing an offence he could be prosecuted for his actions the paper added.
