Religious leaders in peace procession

The 'Peace Council of the Religious Leaders' conducted a procession in Vavuniya yesterday, to stress the need to establish peace in the country. More than two hundred people, the majority of whom were Buddhist monks, and other religious leaders participated in the campaign said sources.
Siyambalagaswewa Wimalasaara Thera of Vavuniya presided over the event, they said. Religious leaders including Vattinaapahaa Somaananda Thera the organiser of the Peace Council, Prof.Kamburugamuwe Vajjiragnana Thera, Bishop Ranjith Fernando, Rev.Fr.Cyril Antony, Mahaagalkadawela Pungnyasaara Thera and Janab.S.M.Fareed addressed the meeting held at the Buddhist Temple in Vavuniya. The speakers at the meeting explained the efforts of the Peace Council towards establishing peace in the country. Prof.Kamburugamuwe Vajjiragnana Thera and Bishop Ranjith Fernando gave an account of their visit to the Vanni and about the discussions they had with the leaders of the LTTE.
