Human rights organisations plan Colombo rally[TamilNet, Saturday, 22 November 1997, 23:59 GMT]The organisation for the arrested and disappeared in Jaffna is to join several other human rights organisations which are planning to hold a public meeting and rally in Colombo on December 10 - International Human Rights Day. Some of the organisation's leaders and activists are expected to travel to Colombo for the occasion. The President declined to meet the leaders of the organisation when they first came to Colombo to canvass support for their case. The organisation for the arrested and disappeared is attempting to mobilize support to trace the 750 Tamil civilians who have disappeared in the Jaffna peninsula since it was captured by the Sri Lankan army in early 1996.
