Three fishermen arrested

The Counter-Subversive Unit of the Batticaloa Police arrested three fishermen yesterday evening when they came ashore in their boats, said sources.
The fishermen were due to return on Friday morning but remained in their boats at mid sea when they saw a burning boat on the shore. When they finally came ashore on Friday evening the Police arrested them. The three fishermen: Kandiah Sivanathan, Kandasamy Ramesh and Kanapathipillai are now being interrogated by the Counter-Subversive Unit (CSU) of the Batticaloa Police. Meanwhile, the bodies of the two police officers who were reported missing in yesterday's attack washed ashore in Batticaloa today. The body of A.M.Adhikari was found near Muhaththuwaram while the body of S.A.Ranjith was found at Uppodai. Police said that their bodies were found on information given by local fishermen. The bodies are lying at the Batticaloa hospital.
