Vanni patients reach Vavuniya

Three patients from the Vanni area were brought to Vavuniya yesterday evening from the north-western town of Mannar having been evacuated from the Vanni by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), said hospital sources.
They were named as Sinnarajah Kandiah (56) a displaced from Columbuthurai, Jaffna, Selliah Muthulingam (34) of Arumaikudiyruppu; Puthuvedduvaan who was attacked by a wild elephant about a week and Sathasivam Sinnarajah (57) a retired People's Bank officer, displaced from Chavakachcheri and had sought refuge at Mallavi. The patients said that there were no medicines in the Vanni hospitals and the public in the region were suffering without access to proper treatment. Meanwhile, the bodies of two Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers who were killed in two separate incidents in the Vanni were brought to the Vavuniya hospital yesterday afternoon said sources. They were named as Ajantha Upul Kumara (19) and W.Ajithkumara (19). One of them was killed at Kanagarayankulam while the other in the Madhu area, the sources added. No further details were available.
