SL voting concludes peacefully with 67% participation in North-East

[TamilNet, Monday, 17 August 2015, 15:50 GMT]
At least 67% of the voters in the North-East have taken part in the electoral race for 29 parliamentary seats in the parliament of the genocidal State of Sri Lanka where the Eezham Tamils are deprived of expressing their political aspiration through ballot after 1977 General Elections following the introduction of the so-called 6th Amendment in 1983. According to the initial details, the rate of participation was high at 75% in Trincomalee, which has been subjected to systematic Sinhala colonisation and demographic genocide over a long period of time.

Without a political movement to spearhead the struggle beyond the scope of SL parliamentary politics, the nation of Eezham Tamils has been trapped into the 'minority' game of electoral politics in the 225-member strong SL Parliament where any major change affecting the affairs of the oppressed nation of Eezham Tamils has to secure two-thirds ‘majority’.

According to the emerging details, yet to be officially confirmed by the SL department of elections, 65% have voted in Ampaa'rai and in Batticaloa electorates in the East.

61% of the registered voters have taken part in the polls in the Jaffna electorate and 71% in the Vanni electorate, which also includes the administrative districts of Mannaar and Vavuniyaa with Tamil-speaking Muslims. A considerable number of Sinhala settlers also reside in Mullaiththeevu (Ma'nal-Aa'ru) and Vavuniyaa districts belonging to the Vanni electorate.

After the genocidal onslaught of 2009, the country of Eezham Tamils has witnessed a systematic project of structural genocide, regardless of the ruling SL party or the executive president at power in Colombo.

This outlook is clearly set forth in the LLRC recommendations themselves.

“No district or province should be categorized in terms of language,” is one of the recommendations of the LLRC (8.240). Another LLRC recommendation states that ‘no part of Sri Lanka belonged to any ethnic group’ (8.107).
