SLA Jaffna operation concludes

Sri Lanka Army officials said today three Liberation Tigers were killed during the combing operation they launched in the Vadamaradchi East Division of the Jaffna Peninsula in the past two days. Unconfirmed reports said three SLA soldiers were also killed.

Residents said they saw three bodies of the SLA soldiers being taken away in a tractor.

SLA said the operation that was launched on Tuesday was concluded last evening involved over 500 troops backed by armoured vehicles.

Yesterday residents reported heavy fighting in the area, with the sounds of mortar shells being heard some distance away.
