Colombo wants to post a Sinhala GA to Mannaar for third time

The occupying Colombo is attempting to post a Sinhala official as the Government Agent (District Secretary) of Mannaar for the third consecutive time, Tamil-speaking civil sources in Mannaar said this week. By posting Sinhala officials as GAs to Mannaar, the unitary State of genocidal Sri Lanka is trying to not only facilitate militarisation in the district but also Sinhalicisaton of the lands of Tamil-speaking people in the district, they complained.

Before promoting the current Sinhala GA of Mannaar M.Y.S Dehsapriya to a secretary position at the ministry of Mano Ganesan, Colombo has transferred the potential successor, Mrs.Annamma Stanley De Mel away from the District Secretariat. She is given the post of additional secretary at the office of SL Minister Palani Digambaram.

Stanley De Mel, a Tamil from Vangkaalai has been serving the district as Additional GA before her transfer. She has earned the respect of the people also in her earlier positions as Assistant Commissioner of Agrarian Services in Mannaar and as Divisional Secretary of Mannar Town Division, they said.

Tamil-speaking civil activists in Mannaar said they were preparing an appeal to SL President Maithiripala Sirisena urging him to appoint a Tamil-speaking Government Agent as the two predecessors have been Sinhalese from South.
