Justice Wigneswaran decides to launch new political party

Naming his new initiative as Thamizh Makka'l Koodda'ni (TMK), former Chief Minister of Northern Provincial Council Justice C.V. Wigneswaran on Wednesday summarised the raison d'etre for the new party in a well-attended meeting at Nalloor in Jaffna. The political goal of the TMK would be aimed at achieving a political solution on the basis of Tamils' right of self-determination and shared sovereignty, he said. The party would be prepared to accept a federal solution with undivided North-East as its basic unit, he said. The former Supreme Court Justice came with an initial list of 10-points and urged the people to shape the strategy of the party through public debate.

The Tamil cause should be advanced with a commitment to fundamental principles through promoting rights-oriented political diplomacy in a multi-layer setting, involving all the actors from grassroots on the ground to the Tamil diaspora, he said seeking constructive inputs to conceive tactics to advance the struggle.

Justice Wigneswaran said the TNA hierarchy had thoroughly failed to accomplish the policy it had on paper, he said.





Tamil Civil Society Forum activist and an academic at the University of Jaffna Guruparan Kumaravadivel also delivered a speech at the special meeting organised by the Tamil People's Council.

The decision to launch TMK received mass applause from the audience.

The meeting was well-received with the active participation of Tamil political and rights activists as well as the grassroots and the journalists in Jaffna.

However, the notable absence of the Tamil National Peoples' Front (TNPF) activists among the audience caused confusion and condemnation from the grassroots activists.

The TMK, if genuinely pursued with proper policy, would outperform the ITAK and all other actors, journalists who attended the event said.

The 10 points highlighted by Justice Wigneswaran follow in Tamil:

1. கடந்த காலங்களில் இடம்பெற்ற கசப்பான சம்பவங்கள், முன் கோபதாபங்கள், குரோதங்கள் , விரோதங்கள் எல்லாவற்றையும் களைந்துவிட்டு தமிழ் தேசிய கோட்பாடுகளுக்கு அமைவாக இணைந்த வடக்கு கிழக்கில் பகிரப்பட்ட இறையாண்மை அடிப்படையில் சமஷ்டி தீர்வு ஒன்றைக் காணும் எனது அரசியல் பயணத்தில் கைகோர்க்குமாறு அகத்திலும் புலத்திலும் உள்ள அனைவரையும் அழைத்து அரவணைத்து செயற்பட வேண்டும்.
   
   
2. இணைந்த வடக்கு கிழக்கில் சமஷ்டி அடிப்படையிலான தீர்வினை அக்கறையுடனும் இதய சுத்தியுடனும் பரிசீலிக்கும் எந்த அரசுடனும் பேச்சுவார்த்தையில் கலந்துகொண்டு தீர்வை அடையப் பாடுபட வேண்டும்.
   
   
3. அரசாங்கத்துடன் தடைப்பட்டுப் போயுள்ள இனப்பிரச்சினைக்கான பேச்சுவார்த்தைகளை மீள ஆரம்பிக்கும் பொருட்டு உள்நாட்டிலும் சர்வதேச சமுகத்தின் ஊடாகவும் அழுத்தம் கொடுக்கும் நடவடிக்கைகளை மேற்கொள்ள வேண்டும்.
   
   
4. இனப்பிரச்சினைக்கான தீர்வுக்கு குறுக்கு வழிகளை கையாளாமல் போர் குற்ற விசாரணைகள் மூலம் உண்மைகளை எமது சிங்களச் சகோதர்களுக்கு தெரியப்படுத்தி பரஸ்பர அவநம்பிக்கைகள் மற்றும் அச்சஙக்ளை நீக்கி நிலையான சமாதானம் ஏற்பட சகல வழிகளிலும் பாடுபடுபட வேண்டும். இதற்காக சிங்கள புத்திஜீவிகள் , மனித உரிமைகள் செயற்பாட்டாளர்கள், சமூக மற்றும் மதத் தலைவர்கள் மற்றும் ஊடகங்களுடன் நெருக்கமாக செயற்பட வேண்டும்.
   
   
5. நிறுவனப்படுத்தப்பட்ட செயற்பாட்டின் மூலம் தனிப்பட்ட கட்சி நலன்களைப் புறந்தள்ளி மூலோபாயத் திட்டமிடலுடனான செயற்திட்டங்களை முன்னெடுத்துச் செல்ல வேண்டும்.
   
   
6. அரசியலையும் அபிவிருத்தியையும் சம அளவில் சமாந்திரமாக கொண்டுசெல்லும் நிறுவன மயப்படுத்தப்பட்ட செயற்பாடுகளை ஏற்படுத்த வேண்டும்.
   
   
7. போரினால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட மக்களுக்காக புலம்பெயர் மக்கள், அரச சார்பற்ற நிறுவனங்கள் மற்றும் உலக நாடுகளின் உதவியுடன் சுயசார்பு பொருளாதார நடவடிக்கைகளை ஏற்படுத்தி மீண்டும் அவர்களுக்கு வளமான ஒரு வாழ்க்கையை ஏற்படுத்தும் பொருத்தமான ஒரு பொறிமுறையை ஏற்படுத்த வேண்டும்.
   
   
8. அரசியல் கைதிகள், காணமல் போனவரக்ள் மற்றும் மக்களின் காணிவிடுவிப்பு போன்றவற்றுக்கு சர்வதேச சமூகம் மற்றும் ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் சபை ஆகியவற்றின் உதவிகளுடனும் அரசாங்கத்துடனான தொடர்ச்சியான கலந்துரையாடல்கள் மூலமும் தீர்வு காணும் நடவடிக்கைகளை மேலெடுக்க வேண்டும்.
   
   
9. இறுதி யுத்தத்தில் நடைபெற்றது இன அழிப்புத் தான் என்று வட மாகாண சபையில் நிறைவேற்றப்பட்ட தீர்மானத்தை வலுப்படுத்த, மேலும் ஆய்வுகளைச் செய்தும் தரவுகளைத் திரட்டியும் சரவ்தேச ரதீpயாக அதனை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளசn;சய்தல் வேண்டும். இதற்குக் காலம் கனிந்துவருகின்றது என்பதே என் கருத்து.
   
   
10. உலகம் முழுவதிலும் வாழ்கின்ற தமிழ் மக்களுடன் நெருக்கமான உறவை ஏற்படுத்தி எமக்கு அரசியல்ரீதியாகவும் பொருளாதாரரீதியாகவும் பலமான ஒரு ஆதரவு சக்தியை உருவாக்க வேண்டும். எமது இனத்தின் இருப்பை உறுதிசெய்யும் எமது நியாயமான இநத் சுய பாதுகாப்பு போராட்டத்துக்கு புலம்பெயர் தமிழ் மக்கள் முக்கியமாக தமிழ் நாட்டில் வாழுகின்ற கோடிக்கணக்கான எமது மலேசியா, சிங்கப்பூர், மொரீசியஸ் மற்றும் தென் ஆபிரிக்கா ஆகிய நாடுகளில் வாழ்கின்ற தமிழ் மக்களும், அமெரிக்கா, பிரித்தானியா, ஐரோப்பா, அவுஸ்திரேலியா, கனடா போன்ற அபிவிருத்தி அடைந்த நாடுகளில் வாழும் எம் தமிழ் மக்களும், சேர்ந்து அரசியல், பொருளாதார, சமூக மற்றும் கலாசார ரரீதியான ஒத்துழைப்பையும் ஆதரவையும் எமக்கு வழங்கவேண்டும் என்று இந்தச் சந்தர்ப்பத்தில் வேண்டுகோள் விடுக்கின்றேன்.
