Missing driver in CSU custody

Vallipuram Arunthavarasa (45) alias Raasakutty, a driver of the Peoplised Transport Board (PTB) of Vavuniya has been detained by the Counter Subversive Unit (CSU) of the Sri Lankan police for inquiries, said sources.

Sources said he has been reported missing since 8 a.m. yesterday morning after he returned from a short trip to Nelukulam about 5 km west of Vavuniya.

Following this a complaint was made at the Vavuniya Police.

Later officials of the PTB had sought the assistance from the Vavuniya Government Agent (GA) to locate the driver.

The PTB officials had also planned go into trade union action today.

However, the CSU had informed them that the missing driver is in their custody and he will be released after inquiries.
