Mortar fire follows attack

A police constable was wounded when the Liberation Tigers attacked the police post at Puliyantheivu, bordering the Muttur town at about 12.30pm today, sources said

The constable was admitted to the Muttur hospital, the sources said.

Following the attack, the Police manning the Puliyantheeivu post fired several mortar rounds towards Amman Nagar, east of Muttur town, for about half an hour, residents said.
