Four commandos wounded

Four commandos were wounded when the Liberation Tigers ambushed a Special Task Force (STF) patrol on the Vavuniya-Mannar road around 12.45 p.m. today said police sources.

The wounded have been admitted to the Anuradhapura Hospital the sources added.

A brief firefight was reported following the attack, sources said. The Army reinforcement rushed to the area and conducted a search operation.

Meanwhile a transformer was blasted in the boarder village of Pampannakulam between Medawachchiya and Cheddikulam in the north-central province around 12.40 a.m. this morning said police sources.
