Two youths shot dead

Two youths, Kasupathy Raventiran,20 and Sathasivam Mathan,18, were shot dead by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers in Valaichenai, 32 km. north of Batticaloa last night said residents.

The soldiers took away the bodies to the SLA camp at the Harbour in a tractor, they said.

The bodies were handed over to the Valaichenai hospital this morning sources said.

Meanwhile the security forces arrested a woman, Shanmugalingam Uthayaleela,21, from the Gurunagar welfare camp in the Jaffna town yesterday residents said. The woman is a native of Velani area.

Elsewhere in the peninsula, another woman Mrs. Iyathurai Selvaranee, 50, was arrested by

the security forces at Madduvil in the Thenmarachchi area sources said.
