The Voice of Tigers said in its news broadcast tonight that the Jayasikurui troops have maintained a heavy barrage towards several areas west of the Kandy road (A9) since early this morning.
The villages of Moondu Murippu, Naalam Kattai and Vannivilankulam have been hit by the Sri Lankan army's mortar and artillery fire. A seven month old infant, Subramaniam Susindher and a 47 year old woman Yogaratnam Kanagammah, displaced from Tellipalai, were injured in the shelling the radio said. All the people in these three villages have moved out of the area as a result of the shelling and have sought refuge in the Yogapuram school. Meanwhile the LTTE said today that one Sri Lankan soldier was killed when it shelled the SLA's positions east of Puliyankulam.
