Six arrested in Jaffna

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers arrested two young women from the Gurunagar transit camp in Jaffna on 18 November said sources.
The detainees, Pathmini Erampamoorthy, 19, of Rasaveethy, Neervely and Sharmila Shanmugam, 21, of Madduvil South, Chavakachcheri, arrived by boat from the Vanni on 18 November and were staying at the Gurunagar transit camp the sources said. The SLA soldiers who interrogated the women arrested them on suspicion for having links with the Liberation Tigers. They are detained at the 51-2 Brigade camp on the peninsula the sources added. Meanwhile three others arrested by the government troops on 20 November are being detained at the Urelu SLA camp. The detainees have been identified as Thankathurai Kanatharajah, 18, Puvaneswaran Rubans, 20, and Sinnathurai Suthan, 19. All three are from Mylankadu in Erlalai and are being detained at the Urelu SLA camp, the sources said. Elsewhere in the town, Manuwel Appu, 40, of Watertank road in Navanthurai, who was arrested 17 November, is detained at the 51-2 Brigade camp the sources added.
