Shell kills one

A 30 year old woman was killed yesterday when a shell fired from the Thallady Sri Lanka Army (SLA) camp hit Parappukkadanthan around 2.30 p.m. said residents.
Logeswary Velmuruku,30, a mother of three was seriously wounded in the shelling and died while being taken Mallavi hospital in the Vanni the sources said. Meanwhile a policeman and three civilians were wounded when unidentified men fired at a bus which was on its way to Thalaimannar from Mannar around 12 noon today said sources. The wounded policeman, Jayalath, was transferred to Anuradhapura hospital, the sources said. Sources in Mannar said the wounded policeman was returning to duty after leave along with other policemen. The three wounded, Dayana Arulappu, (18), K.A.Sagayam, (34) and S.Anthonipillai, (50), are admitted to the Mannar Base Hospital, the police further said. The police blamed the Liberation Tigers for the incident.
