Supreme Court quashes Lalith inquiry findings[TamilNet, Wednesday, 08 December 1999, 14:59 GMT]The Supreme Court yesterday quashed findings against eight senior police officers from a Special Presidential Commission inquiry into the assassination of Lalith Athulathmudali. Assistant Superintendant of Police, A Gnanaratne, Senior Superintendant of Police Ranjit Perera, Chief Inspector of Police Uplai Galgamuwa, ASP G. A. Abeysinghe, ASP Gamini Dissanayake, Sub Inspector of Police M.A.Abdeen, ASP.B.G.Devasurendra and ASP.Lugoda are the eight officers mentioned in the order. Earlier, they filed a writ application through their counsel Gowry Shankary Thavarasa in the Supreme Court seeking an order quashing the findings against them. The writ application was supported by President's Counsel D.S.Wijesinghe. The Bench comprised Chief Justice Sarath Silva and Justice Kulatunge.
