New cameras for journalists

Journalists whose equipment was smashed, allegedly by pro-government activists, during a rally on July 15 organised by the main opposition United National Party (UNP), received new cameras at a function held in Colombo today.

Minister of Water Resources Mahinda Rajapakshe was special guest for the function, whilst the UNP leader and presidential candidate, Ranil Wickremasinghe was the chief guest. Earlier, Mr. Wickremasingha donated a symbolic 100 rupees to Sri Lanka's photojournalists' Association.
