Arson at UNP printers[TamilNet, Sunday, 12 December 1999, 11:12 GMT]Three printers in Colombo, which are used by the main opposition, United National Party (UNP), to print election campaign leaflets were set on fire by unidentified men around 1.30 a.m. this morning sources said. The gang entered the printers at Pittakotte, Nawala and Pathiramula, suburbs of Colombo, assaulted employees and set fire to machinery and opposition leaflets there the sources added. UNP sources said employees and UNP activists at the press were assaulted and one of them has been reported missing. Meanwhile an oil tank at an estate in the hill town of Maskeliye was destroyed in an explosion this morning said sources. This is the second such incident in the last 10 days. The police are conducting investigation.
