More arrests in Colombo

Eighteen youths, including four Sinhalese, were arrested during a joint search operation by the Sri Lanka Army and Police in Welikade in Colombo last night police sources said.

The arrested are being interrogated at the Welikade police station the sources said.

Sources said the troops conducted a house-to-house search operation in the area.

Meanwhile 24 persons who were arrested during a search operation in Merigane and Nugegode areas are detained for further interrogation security sources said. 48 persons including 9 women were arrested during the operation on Sunday.
