President, opposition to meet later this month[TamilNet, Tuesday, 08 February 2000, 22:00 GMT]President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunge is likely to meet Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe, leader of the United National Party, during the third week of February, political sources said today. After the talks held with the government leaders earlier today, a Tamil leader said that a tentative date in the third week of this month had already been selected for talks between the President and the UNP leader over the proposed new constitution that is now being discussed with the Tamil political parties. The Government expects that it could come an agreement over the draft constitution with Tamil political parties represented in the Parliament. Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe is already on record stating that his party would support the PA's move to bring in a new constitution to find a solution to the problems of the country.
