Three detainees freed

Three people who were abducted by unidentified armed men in Vavuniya on Tuesday have been released by the Sri Lanka Army said Mr.S.Sreetharan, chairman of the Human Rights Commission (HRC).
According to the HRC, Tharmarajah Rathika, 16, and Ponnusamy Sivarasa,20, were arrested from the Sasthiri Kolankulam welfare centre, while Sureshini,24, was abducted at Pandarikulam, a suburb of Vavuniya, by unidentified men who came in a white van. SLA authorities have informed the HRC that Sureshini was arrested on suspicion was released after they completed investigations, Mr.Sreetharan said. He said that Kalimuthu Kovintharajah, 25, who was abducted from his house at Vepankulam by unidentified armed men on Tuesday night is yet to be traced.
