The Voice of Tigers said in its night news broadcast today that the Liberation Tigers have brought 12 kilometers of the road along the coast of the Jaffna lagoon between Elephant Pass and Kilali under their control. It said that the fighting formations of the Tigers are continuing to press on with the Unceasing Waves Offensive into Jaffna.
The radio said that 21 kilometers of the A9 highway (Kandy road) from Elephant Pass to Muhamaalai is also now under the LTTE's control. The Tigers brought the Elephant Pass Kilali road under their control by advancing on the coastal road to Kilali from Pulopalai. The coastal road from Elephant Pass to Kilali was used as the alternative supply route to the SLA troops that were defending the besieged gateway garrison between March 27 and April 20 when the A9 highway was cut off by the Liberation Tigers.
