Mystery ID found in Mannar shores

An Identity Card (ID) issued by the Police Department in Kanniyakumari District in Tamil Nadu, belonging to Police officer M. Easwaran, was found by fishermen in Thalai Mannar coast yesterday, said sources in Mannar.

The Identity Card was found to be in good condition and contained the signature of Kanniyakumari District Police Commissioner. It was handed over to a Grama Sevaka Official in Mannar.

This discovery has made Mannar fishermen wonder if Indian Security personnel are making clandestine visits to Mannar shores and if these officers are engaged in providing security to Indian fishermen.

In April a scuffle between Indian fishermen and Mannar fishermen in Mannar seas led to the imprisonment of some fishermen. One Indian fisherman died in the jail, sources noted.
