Attanagala disabled get free land

At the commencement of a function held at Temple trees for the disabled soldiers on Friday, President Chandrika Kumaratunge Bandaranaike distributed deeds of lands to disabled soldiers and families in the Attanagala area. Attanagala is the hometown of Bandaranaike family, about 33 km. northeast of capital Colombo.

The President while addressing the gathering said her government is using its maximum resources to fight this war against the Liberation Tigers and that the government is spending more money than ever before during this year.

The President said that latest weaponry are being deployed at a cost of over 220 million rupees a day in the government's military campaign.

Planes, ships and modern arms have been purchased. It is essential that the war be ended. 80 billion rupees have been allocated for the defense expenditure for this year alone, she added.
