Two members of the Eelam People's Democratic Party (EPDP) and two of its supporters were wounded when a grenade was lobbed at them by unidentified persons while they were pasting posters near the 1st mile post in Pt.Pedro in Jaffna last night around 7 p.m.
EPDP sources in Pt.Pedro said that another pro-government Tamil group contesting the elections in Jaffna or the Liberation Tigers may have been responsible for the attack. The wounded EPDP cadres were admitted to hospital. The persons who lobbed the grenade had got away by the time the security forces in the vicinity of the incident reached the scene of the blast, Police sources in the northern town said. The 1st mile post is an area patrolled by the SLA after dark.
