Bomb explodes in Colombo

Twenty three persons, including three American women and three Policemen, were wounded in a suicide bomb explosion near the Viharamaha Devi Park in Colombo around 10.10 a.m Thursday morning police said.

The bomb had gone off close to the entrance of the Viharamaha Devi Park in front of the Colombo Municipal Council when the Police had tried to check a person in a vehicle.

No one except the suicide bomber who blew up himself when stopped by the Police was killed in the explosion. However, the condition of three of the wounded persons is serious hospital sources in Colombo said. But the American women are out of danger they added.
