SLA detains three in Jaffna

The Sri Lanka army arrested three youth Sunday night in Jaffna town. Nallaiah Navanilavan, 20, Kandasamy Kunaaharan, 27 and Gnanamuttu Anton Amalathaas, 23, were cycling towards the town when they were halted and arrested by soldiers near the Chundikuli checkpoint last night around 7.30 p.m. relatives said. They are being held at the 51-2 brigade headquarters in Jaffna town, according to them.
Nallaiah Navanilavan is from Pandianthaalvu, a suburb of Jaffna town. Kunaaharan and Anton are from Colombuthurai Street, also in the town. The reason for the arrests is not known Police in Jaffna said. Meanwhile, Vigneswaramoorthy Kuharuban, 26, displaced from Ketpely in Mirusuvil, in Jaffna’s southern sector, due the fighting last year, has gone missing since 9 March his wife said. Kuharuban was living with his family in Viyapaarimoolai. His wife appealed to the Human Rights Commission in Jaffna to help her find him.
