Trincomalee Cadets win Championship

The Trincomalee district Cadet group emerged champions in the island in the 2001 National Cadet Camp organized by the St.John Ambulance Association and Brigade of Sri Lanka held at Labuduwa, a village in the deep south of the country.

The winning group is comprised cadets from Trincomalee's Koneswara Hindu College, St.Jospeh's College, Sri Shanmuga Hindu Ladies College and St.Mary's Girls College.

About four hundred and fifty cadets and one hundred officials from the districts of Galle, Colombo, Kandy, Jaffna, Batticaloa, Ampara, Trincomalee, Kalmunai, Gampaha, Kurunagala and Badulla participated in the five-day camp that ended on August 5 at Labbuduwa Sri Dhamma National School. This school is in the Galle district.

The Trincomalee District Cadets won four shields.

This is the second time a Tamil district emerged best in the national level cadet camp. The Jaffna district emerged as champions last year.
