Jaffna Magistrate orders seizure of illegal weapons, vehicles

The Jaffna Magistrate Friday instructed the Police to seize all illegal weapons and vehicles which play without number plates in the peninsula. Mr.R.T.Viknaraja, Magistrate made the order at the conclusion of the inquests held into the deaths of two Tamil National Alliance (TNA) supporters by armed cadres ofthe Eelam Peoples Democratic Party (EPDP).

The Magistrate further instructed the Kayts Police to arrest Mr. Mathanarajan, President of Naranthanai Pradeshiya Sabha (local body), Mr.Napoelan, EPDP organizer and Mr.Jeeva in connection with the deaths of the two TNA supporters.

Four TNA candidates and more than 15 party supporters were also wounded in the attack at Naranthanai, Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile the funeral of Mr.Perambalam, a university employee who was killed in the EPDP a would be held Saturday evening. The remains would be kept at TULF office in Jaffna for paying last respects from 12 noon, party sources said.
