Gen. Ratwatte remanded till March 4

The former Deputy Defense Minister General Anurudhha Ratwatte was remanded Wednesday by the Teldeniya Magistrate Ms Inoka Ranasinghe until March 4. The Magistrate made the order overruling several objections raised by a group of attorneys appeared on behalf of General Ratwatte.
General Ratwatte was produced in Teldeniya Magistrate Court amidst tight security. General Ratwatte was flown to Teledeniya by a special Sri Lanka Air Force helicopter from Colombo Wednesday morning by a special team of CID officials led by Senior Superintendent of Police Sisira Mendis. The police told court that according to evidence recoreded so far as regards the Udathalawinne massacre, the suspect General Ratwatte had been involved in the violence that took place at Udathalawinne on December 5 last year which resulted in the massacre of ten Muslim youths. Hence the suspect should be remanded till the ongoing investigation is completed, police submitted to court. The Magistrate then made order remanding the suspect General Ratwatte till March 4.
