Pirapaharan to hold international press conference

Mr. Vellupillai Pirapaharan, the leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), assisted by Mr. Anton Balasingham, the LTTE's chief negotiator and political advisor, will be conducting a press conference on April 10 to discuss current political developments and associated issues, the movement, said in a press release Wednesday.
The full text of the LTTE statement follows: "Mr. Vellupillai Pirapaharan, the leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), assisted by Mr. Anton Balasingham, the LTTE's chief negotiator and political advisor, will be conducting a press conference on Wednesday, April 10, 2002 to discuss current political developments and associated issues. This will be Mr. Pirapaharan's first press conference in ten years. Among other matters, he will address issues related to the ongoing Norwegian peace initiative in Sri Lanka. "Representatives of local and international media are invited to attend the conference which will take place at around 5pm in Kilinochchi. The venue will be announced shortly. The LTTE can assist attendees requiring accommodation."
