Norway, LTTE discuss talks agenda

The Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr. Vidar Helgesen, met with the Liberation Tigers’ chief negotiator and political advisor, Mr. Anton Balasingham, in London Monday. Mr. Helgesen was accompanied by Mr. Erik Solheim, special advisor to the Norwegian Foreign Ministry and Ms. Lisa Gold, an executive officer with the Foreign Ministry.
The Norwegian delegation met with Mr. Balasingham from 10am to 1pm, LTTE sources in London said. The meeting was intended to explore options with regards to taking the Norwegian peace initiative forward. The discussions included the agenda for peace talks in Thailand as well as the present political situation in the Sri Lanka, the sources said. The meeting, scheduled in early July, was described as ‘cordial and constructive’ by the sources.
