CJ names three judges to hear Ratwatte case

The Chief Justice Mr.Sarath N.Silva Monday named a three-member bench of the High Court to hear the Udathalawinne massacre case. In this case the former deputy defence minister General Anuruddha Ratwatte, his two sons Lohan and Chanukah and twelve other persons have been charged on 72 counts, including conspiracy to murder and murder.
On an application made by the Attorney General the Chief Justice ordered that the Udathalawinne massacre case be heard in Colombo High Court. Earlier the Attorney General had filed indictments against the accused in the Kandy High Court. The names of the three judges appointed to hear the case are Mr. Kumar Ekaratne (Chairman). Mr. Maxwell Paranagama and Mr.S. Karunaratne. Ten Muslim youths were murdered on the general election day (December 05) last year at Udathalawinne in the Kandy district.
