Nimalarajan murder case suspects allowed bail[TamilNet, Wednesday, 11 September 2002, 18:16 GMT]The Vavuniya High Court Wednesday allowed the bail applications submitted on behalf of two vital suspects in the Jaffna journalist Mylvaganam Nimalarajan murder case. The High Court Judge Mr.A. N.Ramachandran overruled the objections raised by the counsel for the deceased and allowed bail for the suspects Michael Collin David and Palanichamy Visvan with two persons as sureties on a bond of one hundred thousand rupees each. The Attorney-at-Law Mr.M.Remedius who watched the interests of the deceased objected the bail applications on the grounds that it was contrary to the Criminal Procedure Code to allow the suspects on bail when the case against them is pending in another high court. Mr.Remedius argued that the police were able to apprehend the suspects who were evading arrest for about one year even after the Jaffna district court issued open warrant on them. Mr.Remedius further submitted to court that allowing suspects on bail at this stage would hinder the investigations now being conducted into this murder The Attorney-at-Law for the suspects Mr. Chandrlal submitted to court that the suspects have come to this court as they were unable to retain attorneys for them in Jaffna and also they felt insecurity there. The Vavuniya High Court Judge then overruled the objections and ordered that the suspects be allowed on surety bail. Chronology: 19.10.05 Nimalarajan remembered in Jaffna
