Ratwatte assets to be scrutinised

The Presidential Secretariat has forwarded a detailed report to the Commission for Bribery and Corruption detailing the assets of General Anurudha Ratwatte acquired during the period from 1997 to 2001 while he was a Minister in the then People’s Alliance (PA) government.

General Ratwatte served as the Minister of Power and Energy and Deputy Defence Minister under the President Chandrika's government.

The Presidential Secretariat has sent its report on the instruction of the Commission on Bribery and Corruption as a part of the investigation now being conducted following the recovery of certificates of deposits of value of forty million rupees from the vaults of a private bank in the name of General Ratwatte and his wife.

Meanwhile, the Commission for Bribery and Corruption will also obtain another report from the Parliament Secretariat with information on assets declared by General Ratwatte when he became a Minister.
