Tigers attack SLA truck

Four SLA soldiers were killed and four were wounded when the Liberation Tigers attacked a military truck near the 18th mile post on the Vavuniya - Mannar road last night around 9.00 p.m.

The army said that the Tigers had attacked the truck with Rocket propelled grenade (RPG) fire.

Casualties on the LTTE side are not yet known.

Meanwhile, around the same time last night the Police at Nelukkulam, on the outskirts of Vavuniya found a van that had been abandoned by four armed youth when it had broken down. The Police are looking for the armed youth.

Sources said that the van might have been hijacked by one of the ex-Tamil militant groups in the town which is engaged illicit timber felling in the dry zone jungles near the town.
