Palai hospital short of equipment

An average of 90-95 patients suffering from Malaria come daily for treatment to the hospital in Palai, south east of Jaffna town, says the TamilNet's Jaffna correspondent who visited the area today.

Dr.Ambikaipaakan, the Medical Officer at the hospital said that he had no refrigeration facilities to preserve some vital drugs.

The SLA in the area has said it would distribute food to the patients in the hospital to mark the golden jubilee of Sri Lanka's independence on February 4.

However, the medical officer says that it would be more useful if the hospital was to get a water tank to supply running water to the patients and a fridge to keep drugs in.
