French foreign minister to visit Jaffna

French Foreign Minister Dr. Renaud Muselier Monday met President Ms
Chandrika Kumaratunge and held a wide ranging discussions on
several topics including the present peace process which has completed six rounds of talks towards finding negotiated
political settlement for the ethnic conflict, sources said.

Dr. Renaud Muselier is the first highest-ranking French government leader
to visit Sri Lanka since 1996, sources said. French foreign minister arrived Colombo Sunday on a four-day visit to
express his country's support for the peace process. He is scheduled to
visit Jaffna Tuesday to donate books to the renovated Jaffna library and to
launch a resettlement project in the Kayts Island with his government's
assistance, sources in Colombo said. He is also scheduled to open an Alliance Francaise cultural centre in
Jaffna during his visit, sources said.
