Kilinochchi base said badly hit

Latest reports from army sources in the north indicate that the large Kilinochchi base of the Sri Lankan army has been very badly hit by the ongoing LTTE attack.

They said that security forces from Elephant Pass are still trying to establish a safe land link with the troops which were in the base.

The reports said that more than hundred Liberation Tigers had infiltrated the base in the first phase of the attack.

But the sources were unable to definitively confirm whether this meant the camp has been over run.
