Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) leader V. Anandasangari has been removed from the working committee of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) sources from TNA circles said.
TULF Jaffna district parliamentarian Mavi Senathiraja said Mr. Anandasangari has been removed because he has not attended several meetings of TNA working committee and has been replaced by Joseph Pararajasingam. Anandasangari, in a letter released after the news of his removal was published in the news media, said that "the stories in the news media of his removal from the TULF working committee are errorneous . In the early stages I was expressing my frank opinions in TULF meetings. In recent times I abstained from attending many TULF meetings as I did not agree with many policy decisions taken by the working group. "I do not like to cause difficulties during this critical period in the prevailing peace climate. History will accept only what is right and only time will reveal the truth," he added in his letter. The twelve member policy-making working committee of the TNA comprises three representatives from each of the four constituent parties, the TULF, the All Ceylon Tamil Congress (ACTC), the Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization (TELO) and Eelam Peoples Revolutionary Liberation Front (EPRLF - Suresh wing). The membership in the working committee was recently increased to four from each party to streamline the political activities of the TULF. Anandasangari has been facing a challenge to his leadership due to his publicized opposition to the LTTE.
