SLA bars students from entering Point-Pedro schools after hours

524 Brigade of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) located in Point Pedro Friday ordered no students and teachers should enter the Hartley College and Methodist Girls College after three p.m. These two leading educational institutions in the Vadamarachchi division are located inside the SLA 524 brigade complex, sources said.

Students normally enter college premises after school hours to do physical exercises and to participate in sports activities in the college playground. They have now stopped entering the college premises with the ban imposed by the SLA authorities.

Soldiers of the 524 Brigade are seen doing physical exercises in the college playground, sources said.

Meanwhile male soldiers are now seen checking girl students who go to Methodist Girls College to attend classes though women soldiers are available in the 524 brigade complex, sources said.
