LTTE and STF meet in Vavunathivu

Commanders of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and Military officers of Sri Lanka's Special Task Force (STF) met at the District Secretariat in Vavunathivu, in Batticaloa district Wednesday 10a.m to discuss security related matters, military sources in Batticaloa said.
Special STF Police Commissioner for Batticaloa-Amparai district, Seneviratne, and other officers represented the STF. Batticaloa-Amparai Special Commander of the LTTE, T.Ramesh, head of the Political Section of LTTE, E.Kausalyan, head of the LTTE administration, S.Reginald and head of higher education, S.Avaniyan represented the LTTE in the discussions, security sources said. Both sides agreed to take immediate steps to setup procedures to resolve matters through discussion. It was also agreed in the meeting that both parties will refrain from engaging in activities that will cause damage to the peace process. LTTE commanders and STF officers expressed satisfaction at the cordial atmosphere that prevailed during discussions, sources said.
