Grenade explosion damages Trincomalee PLOTE office building

Unidentified men Tuesday night around eight lobbed a grenade in the premises of the office of the Peoples Liberation Of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE) located along the Power House Road in the heart of Trincomalee town, police said

Glass panes of the PLOTE office were damaged but no one in the office was injured in the grenade attack, Trincomalee Police said.

A team of police officials rushed to the spot started investigation, police said.

A police post, which is located in a private building earlier used as a rice mill, is close to the PLOTE office, sources said

Meanwhile the Sri Lanka Army's bomb disposal squad Sunday deactivated a grenade, which was found in a bare land close to Kanagam Mill police post.

The police recovered the grenade on a tip off by children playing in the bare land on the day of incident, police said.
