LTTE releases two police officers

Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) released the two police officers from Eravur, Constable A.G.N. Senadheera and Reserve Police Constable D.S. Nihal Somasiri, who were kept in their custody at 5.40 pm Saturday at the Chenkaladi Karuththappalam area, security sources said.

Batticaloa-Amparai LTTE commander of women's wing, Nilavini, and Batticaloa-Amparai LTTE commander Robert handed over the police officers to the District Senior Police Commissioner Lasantha de Silva.

LTTE cadres took the police officers in custody on 10th June from Chenkalady.

The release follows Trincomalee High Court's granting of bail Thursday to Satyaraj, LTTE's political head of the Puthur division in Batticaloa district, security sources said.
